Highlights in history........
Today, January 9th, 1972 the Lakers are defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks 120-104. The loss is of particular interest because it ends a 33 game win streak by the lakers, which still retains the title of being the longest of any professional sports team.
The game also features a hall of fame caliber matchup between Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain. This time Jabbar got the better of the Chamberlain, outscoring him 39-15 and 20-12 on the boards. The stellar performance lead his team to the victory, ending the streak at 33 games which surpassed the previous record by 12 games.
The streak had began on November 5th 1971, against the Baltimore Bullets 110-104.
The teams would again meet in the Western Division Finals where the Lakers beat the Bucks and advanced to the Finals against the Knicks. The Lakers would go on to win the series by a margin of 4 games to 1.
